Photo Bloopers

Most of the time after a session, I pull up the computer chair
maybe have a cup of coffee ready to go
and I down load my pictures.

I most always know which ones that I want to go to right away. The ones that I know I want to edit right away and see the "finished" product.

Then, I go through every photo taken, and sometimes...
as much as certain photos stand out as "perfect..." a lot of the time, my favorites are the
blurry.

or the funny-everyone blinked ones.

or the "what the heck are they doing in this picture? one.

It happens every time, and though I always strive to get all amazing shots.. nobody is perfect, and sometimes there are bloopers.
Some kids make silly faces.
 Some adults make silly faces.
Sometimes I get a little to close.
Everyone needs a snack-break.
 Sometimes we even have melt-downs.

But isn't this the best part of life? That is, capturing what is real

A Letter to everyone.

I've had such a blessed September.

I got to see my future brother and sister in law get married.
Rain all that week... not much better the morning of the wedding. All of the sudden the clouds parted- and the sun was out. So beautiful. I'm so lucky to have gotten to be a part of their special day.

And by the way- didn't leave the dance floor all evening. So much fun.

Also got to take some engagement pictures for a friend who is getting married THIS FRIDAY! So excited to photograph her wedding!

Also, I got to spend time with a great family taking their family portraits. I was a bit nervous, only because I hadn't done a family session in quite a long time. But I am so happy with how these turned out. So beautiful in black and white especially.

I was lucky enough a few weeks later to be able to capture one year birthday pictures for them also. This little girl, is so gorgeous! The camera loves her!

I am so excited for what is to come this October, I feel so lucky to get to be doing what I love. I realize that I'm a long way from getting to do this full-time.. but I want to thank all of those people that have hired me to capture moments in their life for them.

I'm feel blessed that everyone has been happy with what I've done. I feel like I grow with every session, every encounter, and every person I meet.

Thank you to all of you that have allowed me to keep doing my passion. Thank you for recommending me to others, and thank you for going along with ideas I come up with, however weird some of them might seem.

I look forward to this coming month of couple sessions, senior portraits, engagement pictures, family pictures and weddings! I hope you know, how much it all means to me!

It's Really Almost September?

Once again, time has gotten away from me. But I love so much that I can come back to this place anytime, and like a good friend, it's
always here.

I've been up to my ears in guest list finalizing, bridesmaid dress shopping, throwing a wedding shower for my future sister in law, working, photo booth prop-making, and of course my furry little guy keeps me very occupied.

This summer has gone by in such a blur, I cannot believe it is almost September. I walk through the stores and I see back to school supplies and Halloween decorations.

It seems all too early.

I have a sudden urge to buy notebooks, erasers and pens. I want a trapper-keeper. Do they make those anymore? A really cool one by Lisa Frank. Is that still around?

I've taken so many photos this summer, and yes they are mostly of the puppy, but my goal: get all of these photos piled up on the computer, printed out and at least organized.

I have so many more wedding goals to accomplish in the next month. I'd like to get them done by the second week of September.. however, that may be pushing it.

We took our engagement photos about two weeks ago. I'm patiently awaiting to get them back. I know, as a photographer, how long it takes to process, and put together all the photos taken. As a bride, I'm learning to relax and wait.

This is for my sake so it's out in the world,

and maybe I'll hold myself to it:

By September Be Done With:
  • Guest List *(all typed up with addresses)*
  • Save the dates designed, and printed
  • Photo booth built/props finished
  • DJ booked
I know, everyone is so interested.
lol

Silliest blog post ever.

More puppy? Mmm kay.

It's Officially Summer There Was Sand Between My Toes

It's full summer-time here now. We broke 100 degrees today, and it felt like walking around an oven.. all the air gets sucked out of your lungs, and you sit down and still sweat.

But it beats Michigan winters. Seriously.

Last weekend, I spent with friends in Canada for Bayfest.

Enjoyed some great music.
Drank some Canadian beer from the beer store.
(Which closes at like 7- even on weekends)

Played some flip cup.
Laid out on the beach.
Got sand between my toes.

Got some sun.
Saw a man with a hair bikini.
Sorry for putting you on the internet Creepy McHairy, but you were asking for it.

Ate some vinegar fries.
(they were so amazing I took a billion pictures of just them)

A frozen banana (that looked suspicious)

And saw some funny animals.

Little Models

Spent the entire day with my little cousins today. I love it when they are in town, because they are down for anything.

Even me making them wear dresses and pose outside for photographs in the summer heat.

I don't think they don't mind hanging out with their big cousin too much.
We went to lunch, did pictures, met some giant leggo ninjas, went to Art in the Park in our little town, ate massive amounts of sugar, got tattoos, our faces painted, spent lots of time with the puppy, we blew color bubbles, and even prank dialed some people.

So in other words, it was a pretty full day. I am pretty happy with how the pictures turned out. Their mom was very surprised and happy to get these. We picked out our favorites, edited them really quick, and went to the store and made prints.

These are my favorites:

I have lots more, that I will hopefully get around to posting soon! Not bad for a half hour!

Our Newest Addition

I have been a very bad blogger lately! I have all these posts running around in my head that I would so absolutly love to post, but truth is- I just haven't had the energy to sit down, and compose one.

So hear is what has been happening.

First of all, working like crazy.

Second, there is a new addition at the apartment. His name is Remington or "Remy."

I.love.this.dog.
but as with any puppy, it sure takes up a lot of time.
But how could you resist spending as much time as possible with this little guy?

seriously.

Okay, I will cease with the puppy pictures even though I am a very proud Mama.

Thirdly, I have been freaking out that we haven't booked our wedding photographer yet. It is so very important to me, that I didn't want to wait to long to book and not have a good choice of who to go with.

Thankfully-

My aunt and Uncle suggested their friend's son and his wife as the photographers. Turns out, they are exactly my style, and my price range! They are a super nice couple who I think really get what my vision is, but who I also trust to take things their own way too. So as of this past Tuesday, we have our photographers booked. I am so excited!

We are probably going to take our engagement pictures done the first weekend of August! We have some cute things planned, and I cannot wait! It'll be just a little bit weird though, to be in front of the camera, instead of behind it.

I haven't done too many creative projects, because honestly- having a hard time to find enough energy to fold my laundry (and I'm serious because I have two loads siting in a pile on the couch right now that has been there for at least going on three nights. Pretty bad, I know.

What ya gonna do though?

Lastly, I have a couple photography jobs coming soon.. so that is good!

I promise to try to blog more. I know you're holding your breath...

Alright, one more puppy photo:
